Brian Jenkins Twofer Day  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Sep 13, 2011

Brian Jenkins

Hiked up with Mark, Natasha and Flanders on Day 3 of our hike. After spending a day in the Lakes Basin and another at Frazier Lake, we hiked up the endless (but beautiful) route to Polaris Pass and then over to tag Sentinel. Fun ridge with those weird huge crickets everywhere.

Pat and I started from Dollar Lake and followed the trail to Polaris Pass. Then followed the goat trails on the north ridge to the summit.

I decided to bag this one while the rest of the party took a break before we climbed Polaris Point.

Was an easy climb along the north ridge from Polaris Pass. The ridge line is very narrow in places, but the goat trails generally offered good footing. There was one steep short stretch, but nothing really difficult. Snow lined the ridge from heavy storms a few weeks earlier, but it was largely gone now. The side side of the ridge offered some shelter and was actually warm in the sun, but the top and west side was smacked by an icy morning wind. I was too hot or too cold until the sun got up higher. The summit is very small and really just the meeting place of narrow ridges. There is no register.

I think I left my screw-on camera lenses on top of this peak. If anyone finds them and sent them to me, you'd be a hero and I might buy you dinner.
