| I've been to the top of Shaefer's Peak three times. The first was the afternoon in mid-August 1994, when a few of us hiked up to the top following our arrival at our camp for the night on Shaefer's Pass. The second was when we hiked up to the top in the pre-dawn dark. We watched the sunrise over the wildlands of NE New Mexico before we contiued along the Tooth of Time Ridge on our way back to Philmont's basecamp. Also climbed to the top in August 1996 on our last day of that Philmont trek. | |
