Sheepish view Mono Basin

Apparently one of the last sheep herds left around the Sierra. The Basque sheep herders were run out of the high meadows of the range by the US Army back in that day. John Muir was a passionate force in getting them out, calling them "hoofed locust". They would wipe out the delicate natural growth in the alpine meadows. This crowd has been gone since about 2000.
