| Started from Twin Lake TH, went up the Cold Creek trail and made a try for the E ridge of Tinkham as well... didn't work out for Tinkham, but got across the drainage to hit Silver before dark. Good hike, easy 'scramble' at the top, really just a walk up with some minor exposure, and spectacular summit views. | ||

| Mark Straub | Very snowy June ascent ![]() Date Climbed: Jun 17, 2008 | |
| Awesome trip! There was no trail to the summit, or even footprints. We headed for a couple miles along a trail, then cut through a (very long) mile and a half or so of sloped brush. Compasses were absolutely required. We came to Ollalie Meadow after heading through a forest. Then we scrambled a path to the summit, and it was excellent. The views were nice, with a great glissade! (It was snowy almost the entire way.) Fun trip, very underrated mountain! | ||

| The 75 Scrambles book doesn't offer a very clear description of this route. We wouldn't have taken my buddy's dog if it did, as the loose scree and boulder field wasn't easy -- even for a tough dog. But we made it all the way up, dog and all. We met two other parties at the summit, but they had both come from different directions. Great views! No real scrambling, though... which was a bit of a disappointment. | ||

| Gorgeous early fall hike! Just under two hours up and about an hour and a half down. The trail turnoff for Silver Peak was marked by a decent-sized cairn and sits right at the foot of the NW Ridge of Tinkham Peak. I would very much like to return here in the winter | ||

| Lots of snow from the road crossing onwards. Lost the trail many times but found my way to Annette Lake. Up through the trees from there, wished I would have brought crampons, made my way with Yaktrax. Thankfully I had my axe as I slipped on some hard snow slopes and had to self-arrest. Got cramps in my legs and had to rest on some rocks below the summit while electrolyte-loading. Came back down the north ridge via jaunts off onto the east side to avoid some steep downclimbs. Steep hard snow through the trees back down with some more slips and self-arrests. Finally got caught in some devils club (just an awesome time!) before I stepped back down onto the trail and hiked out. Beautiful sunny day though. | ||

| We climbed from the north-west ridge through fog and mist. The sun would come out to tease us for a brief moment. Crampons and ice axes for the windy traverse to the top. | ||

| BSPclimber | South Spur with bonus frivolous elevation gain ![]() Date Climbed: Aug 22, 2007 | |
| Started from Olallie Meadows on the PCT. Somehow missed the cairn at the junction just before the tiny meadow, so I ended up going all the way to Mirror Lake, which is a cool place but not one I was planning on going. Turned around there, and took the use trail from that tiny meadow, which connects with the other one within a tenth of a mile or so. From there it's a fun hike/scramble to the summit. Lots of fog on the summit limited views to a few hundred feet in any direction so I didn't stay long. On the way down I could see that the fog lifted and would have had some good views had I stayed up there 20 minutes longer. With my detour, I figured I went 10 miles RT with about 2800 feet elevation gain. A nice warm up for Little Annapurna the next day. Note: Bugs were fairly mild this day, didn't even need bug spray. | ||

| I got antsy and left the trail too soon and went up a little gully. This was steep and necessitated brush belays. This forest adventure eventually topped out into easy forest and then the talus field and in due time hit the climber's path. Some fog rolling in from the west at the summit. I took the trail all the way back down to the PCT. It should be noted that this is effectively a full blown trail rather than a climber's path. Just keep heading south farther than you think may be you should be and you will hit it and don't try to take a shortcut as I did. | ||

| Dean | Cross Country - south spur ![]() Date Climbed: Jul 5, 2007 | |
| John and I joined forces to go up cross country from the PCT as we couldn't find the normal route. After some steep sections of brush and snow, we found talus that we followed up and stumbled across the use trail that makes its way up. Views from the summit were outstanding but the voracious mosquito population that followed us up from the PCT made us pay every time we stopped and they limited our stay on the summit to a brief visit. We were pretty much able to follow the use trail down to the PCT on the way down which was a whole lot easier than the way we had chosen to go up. I must do this one again sometime, without the mosquito plague and for a longer visit on top. | ||
