My easiest SPS peak so far – from the north you can drive to within 1 mile and 800’ of the summit. Climbed with brother Jon. We followed the directions on the Summitpost page to Forest Route 21S36 (signs are spotty, best to take a map and GPS), but instead of driving to the end of 21S36 we turned right on 21S36A, then left a few hundred feet later onto a logging road, then left at the fork a couple hundred feet further on. The logging road would be rough for a passenger car, but no problem with 4WD – we drove up to 8,700’. We then followed the north ridge to the summit, staying to the left of a few big blocks. There are two similar-height blocks at the summit; the block to the north has the summit register, inside an ammo can chained to the rock. A bit of easy climbing gets you to the top: Summit block

Made the summit right at sunset and was pleasantly surprised by the nice views and summit area compared to how this peak looks from a distance. As it got dark I realized I had forgotten my headlamp, luckily there was a full moon and navigation back wasn't too difficult.

Beautiful day approaching from the north side after camping near Hooker Meadow. The north side was still snow covered but we just kick stepped our way up. Picked up Jackass on the way back. We saw 5 bears along the way.

Hadn't expected to be able to climb this one, as Sherman Pass Road was still gated shut on Fri evening. After doing Rockhouse/Taylor on Sat and Sirretta Sun morning, I found the gate had been newly opened. Drove up here, with no hint of snow anywhere. This is undoubtedly the easiest peak on the SPS List, but it has some nice views in a pretty area, and there's about 15 feet of contrived, fun scrambling at the summit too.

Very nice hike and we got there before the rain. My dogs couldn't handle the Class II but they got within 20 feet of the summit. Gorgeous view from the top!

Careful on the way out. One of our friends (who shall remain nameless) got lost on the way out and wandered for a while. The motorcyclists pointed him in the right direction!

Nice and clear in the morning, a few clouds on the summit, rain on the hike out!

~Went up there again on 7/22/06 with Melbatoast.
