Snowfield on the approach the Saarbrücker Hütte (2538m)

This is at 2450m, on the trail just below the Saarbrücker Hütte. Early in the summer of 2013 there was still a whole lot of snow, and at much lower elevations than normal. This should all have been gone by the end of June at the latest. But spring had not been normal, bringing a lot of precipitation, and consequently many higher trails were still buried under the snow. It was the same in many parts of the Alps. 20 July 2013.
