South East Face of Vallecitos

South East Face of Vallecitos

The southeast face of Cerro Vallecitos. The normal route ascends just over the lip of the skyline ridge to the left of the peak, heading up from Porta Suelo col. The original technical ascent (looks about PD/AD??) takes the snowfield left to its central upper limb, then traverses right across (what looks like rather chossy) rock to a small snowy couloir to the ridge, topping out where a diagonal slash of snow is seen on the skyline centre left. Taken from the normal route to El Plata/Vallecitos (December 2007).
