| Brita | South Timp ![]() Date Climbed: Sep 8, 2012 | |
| We started at Aspen Grove and it was a busy day on the trail. We implemented a run rule for whenever we encountered anyone and that meant we ran the entire way to Emerald Lake. From there we headed up the glacier and I usually HATE snow but this was well packed and easy to climb. My wimpiness kicked in after the snow during the finally push to the top. I am not a fan of feeling exposed. It was warmer at the top than I expected and of course the view was a great reward. We saw a mountain goat chilling in the snow, very camouflaged. It was fun to have a few guys join us on the run down, that doesnt usually happen. :) | ||

| runbyu1 | South Timp from Aspen Grove on a gorgeous day ![]() Date Climbed: Sep 8, 2012 | |
| Ran up from Aspen Grove to Emerald Lake and then we scrambled up the glacier and piles of rocks up to the saddle (the little trench on the right is much easier than the "trail"). Took about 25 minutes from Saddle to summit moving easy. Summit was gorgeous and weather was great. Came back down and saw a mountain goat less than 5 meters away just sitting on the glacier---never moved! Ran back down to the car, great day. | ||

| This was either my second or third time at Second Summit. Hiked it with Dave & Christine. The Razorback Ridge route is by far the hairiest way to get to the top, hands down. I didn't realize that Second Summit had its own page. :) | ||

| vanman798 | Via the Snow Field ![]() Date Climbed: Oct 26, 2012 | |
| The first snow in the valley took place Oct 25, 2012 so I decided it would be a good day to climb timp the next day so I could have the place to myself. The snow didn't fill in as much as I hoped amounting to maybe 8 inches or less at 11,000 feet. Started at 6:45 am, made it to Emerald Lake at 10:09 am. By 11:25 am I had crossed the snowfield and climbed to the saddle. From the saddle it took 35 minutes to reach the south summit. Everything was covered in rhime ice. Next it was on to the true summit which I reached at 1:40 pm. I continued on to Bomber peak arriving at 3:26 pm, and from there to N. Timp by 4:28 pm. I took the Cold Fusion Coulior down which was tough going with the snow just enough to make it slick. It was close to 7 pm when I made it to the dirt road, and was lucky enough to hitch a ride with some hunters. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~` July 4, 2010. Went up the snowfield from Emerald Lake. Took 45 minutes to reach the saddle and another 15 minutes to reach the peak. Was on top before 9 pm and was able to catch the sunset. The views were amazing. I could see the Great Salt Lake to the NW, Utah Lake to the West, Jordanal Dam to the NE, Deer Creek Resevoir to the East, and Mt Nebo to the south. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ August 9, 2008 - Went up the Aspen Grove trail to Emerald lake (that took 1 hour 45 minutes), continued on to Roberts Horn (from the lake this took 1/2 hour). Descended back to Emerald Lake and climbed the snow field to the saddle (Lake to saddle took 1/2 hour), then I summited South Timp (in 15 minutes from saddle), then descended and ascended Timp (in 40 minutes from saddle). I returned via the snowfield and the Aspen Grove trail. Big day and another of my solo trips. | ||

| Approached via Timpooneke and camped in Timp Basin. Descended via the "glacier". I had to hurry to the peak and back from the glacier saddle because of questionable weather. Saw a herd of mountain goats at Emerald Lake that let me get close-up photos. | ||
