Wow!

It's really cold there, below Velebit!

Re: Wow!

Yesterday Vid wasn't too cold and Bura was moderate but now really is because temp is below 0° even on the coast and hurricane force Bura began this afternoon. How it is up there now with all that wind and temp close to -20°C is better not to know :-) I'm just glad that snow was cemented before Bura so it won't do any damage to it (blow much of it away on too exposed places). When it stops conditions will be great for crampon walking but next weekend they predict new snow and I planned big 3 day tour over the highest peaks so now that is questionable, damn :-) This winter is just so wild that there are so very few opportunities to go to high areas; too many hurricane force Bura’s and so much snow.

Re: Wow!

Yes, this winter is wild. But strange, after some 20 years with Jasmina and Lenart, our youngest son, we went on ski-holidays. Four nice days in Italian Dolomites - just perfect temperatures, a little lack of snow, but beautiful. Each day some 6 hours of skiing - or, better, travelling on skis. It's one of the biggest playgrounds on the world. Kind of a perversion (you don't walk up to earn a descent!), too artificial, but still, very pleasant.
