Amazingrock towers! Why is climbing them not permitted?

Re: AmazingThe Navajo Indians own the land and don't want people to climb it. They consider the tower to be sacred.

This truly is an amazingrock. I admired it during our 2008 Arizona - Utah trip. We, too, did the short hike to Whitehouse Ruins and I loved the Canyon de Chelly. I was impressed by those abundant "footprints" of the ancients left all over Arizona and Utah.
