Split Mountain and Lake 11598
This was taken from the highest of the low rocky hills that separate the JMT from Lake 11598. We hiked along the right side of the lake as you approach Split Mountain and the pass below it. It is a very easy hike to get to the base of the pass but don't waste time hiking up too high on the rocks south of the lake because you will be forced to hike back down before you can begin your climb up to the pass.
