The Spotted Nutcracker (Nucifraga caryocatactes) on a pine in Montagne de la Côte, Massif du Mont Blanc. "The most important food resources for this species are the seeds (pine nuts) of various Pines (Pinus sp.)" Amazing ...

the little bird sitting alone on the pine, and what a beautiful view!

Hiltrud, seeing that northern corvid on the top of a pine was fantastic though it was some tens of metres away. We descended wet because of the rain and fog from the first old Pylône. We wanted to reach Gite a Balmat (2530 m) or at least Mont Corbeau (2334 m) but we decided to go back to Chamonix. I didn't know the name of the bird because there aren't spotted nutcrackers in Spain. Once there and after looking my guidebook I noticed that it was that bird.
