St'auk Mountain
Took a route a little further to the south (started about 200' past the gate on the Monte Cristo road), which helped me avoid some slide alder and cliff bands on my 'late-season' scramble. From here, I went up to St'auk Mountain Lake (3329'). Went up to the saddle at N48 01.695 W121 27.575 (does not appear on USGS maps) - I was able to follow game trail for a good portion of this section. Went to the true summit, which had limited views through the trees. On the way out, I followed the ridge south a short distance, and found a fantastic viewpoint at N48 01.601 W121 27.665. It does require about 10' of low-exposure, class 5 climbing, but is well worth the effort. Another rocky outcropping about 50' to the SW provides views in the other direction. Between the two points, one can get unobstructed views through about 320 degrees (everything except due north). A little bit of brush on the upper portion of the scramble (not bad, by Cascade bushwhacking standards). As tcingrum suggests, this would be an excellent early season scramble with a decent amount of snow.
