Stunning  Sucess!

Used this as an ascent route to Twins. I don't understand the recommendation to avoid this after the snow has melted. This is outstanding scrambling in stunning scenery without a soul around. Pretty much continuous waterfalls until the creek dries up around 10k or so, including a section where you're looking down into what is basically a 50-60 ft deep slot canyon. IMO this is *the* way to get to Twins from BCC, way better than Robinson.

Route-wise, I basically stayed just left of the creek the whole way. No need to go too far left, just keep following the rock ridges left of the creek. If you lose sight of the creek you're too far left. A few spots seem like they're going to close out on you, but the route just kept revealing itself to me and I didn't encounter anything that felt 5th class. Descended the standard Broads Fork route and ran an easy 1.5 miles on the road to close the loop.

Scrambler Treadmill  Sucess!

Exactly what I was looking for: a sustained scramble with a few 5.easy moves thrown in for good measure (probably avoidable with careful route finding). Strange to find myself alone on a BCC trail.

I can't wait to try this route again in late spring/early summer.

Stairway to Heaven  Sucess!

Parked at Broad's Fork TH and jogged down canyon 1.5 mi to the Stairs Gulch TH where I had left my pack. I got off route (again!) and ended up cliffed out on a ledge at 9500' and did NOT want to downclimb what I had upclimbed to get there. I called my wife and left my GPS coordinates in case she had to call SAR and started up the wall in front of me to the east. It turned out all right but gave me more adrenaline than I like to get these days. Lots of folks on the Twins.
