Steep beginning of Mt. Garfield trail
The Mt. Garfield trail wastes no time in gaining elevation. The trail follows the ridgeline just to the left of center of the photo and gains over two thirds of it's 2,000 feet of gain in the first mile. The box culvert that you either drive or walk through (there is a small parking area on the south side of the culvert) can be seen in the upper left of the photo. Taken April 11, 2006.
