The lower part of the slovene route. we planned to do the Cassin, but it has become quite dodgy. We encountered lots of hollow crust over very hard old ice, which did not lend itself to speedy climbing. Bad weather moved in. we bailed after about 200m of climbing and whilst sitting in the tent getting buried at ghost col, it was a wise move. Ghost col was an adventure getting to for a start. Superb being up there all the same. If you get hold of the J. Firmer Guidebook, don'y take it all as gospel. The Andes is changing rapidly and conditions are coming and going. Early season maybe the best bet, but expect dodgy weather, but you may luck out. Have a good one.
