Straight up approach

The red line indicates the approximate route I took to the summit of Tamarack Peak on September 2nd, 2007. The start off point was the Mount Rose Trail, from where I headed up an open gully. The bare scree slope to the right was too steep, so I headed up the forest, and pushed up the loose scree and sand slope on whatever footing I could gain. Towards the top, the grade lessened and it became an easy walk up to the summit.
