There looks like hardly any snow in the photo. What was the terrain like near the summit?

There was snow everywhere except along the very crater rim-top. I've seen it like that before on some other volcanic summits. I have some more photos of the rim and crater which I should have posted later today.

surprised how little snow there was versus when i was there. was it really cold or not too bad?

Well, on the way up I was wearing two pairs of socks, wool pants and shell pants, liner shirt, fleece, down coat, outer shell, liner gloves, insulation gloves, face mask, and a beanie cap under my helmet. I was still cold. The only other time I wanted to climb while wearing a down coat was on Kilimanjaro. Take a look at this photo
