I have passed by this summit before, but today I made sure to sample it. After wandering around in dense mountain laurel near the top, I was pleased with the interesting summit boulder.

Sugar Knob and Mill Mountain
I parked at the Big Schloss Cutoff trailhead and hiked on FR 92 for about 0.5 miles before starting up the Little Stony Creek Trail. It had rained for the past couple of days, but it turned sunny on Friday. The colors in the forest were really beautiful.
I stopped at the Sugar Knob Cabin for the day, and fell asleep reading cheesy science fiction. The next morning, I hiked to the summit of Sugar Knob. I packed up my stuff, hiked over Mill Mountain, followed the Mill Mountain Trail to the Big Schloss Cutoff Trail, and went back down to my car.
