Nice fall hike with Valerie to get Montezuma, the Unicorn, and Summit peaks

Via Treasure Creek Trail
Ascended via the Treasure Creek Trail. Used AllTrails app. The trail is solid all the way to the turn in the valley. After that, it takes a little work to find it again. Quite a bit of blowdown from all of the beetle kill. Trail totally disappears after the forest for a bit then reappears until it connects with the CDT. The south slopes up to the summit are just a little slog but nothing too crazy. A beautiful mountain in a quiet part of the state.
Did Summit via south slopes and crossed over to Unicorn, Montezuma + added 5 12er to that day. The northern descent from Summit was interesting.
Still lots of snow for July (2019 snow rich year).

From Quartz Creek
Though the peak is not that exciting, the area's geology is interesting. I made it to Quartz Meadow in a stock Element, but the San Juan River ford was a bit dicey. I was planning to do Unicorn and Montezuma as well, but got frustrated by the crusty snow. Trip report.

Summit Trio
With Rachael. Southeast slopes of Summit Peak from Treasure Creek, then back to the trail and around to "The Unicorn" and Montezuma before retracing the trail down. Beautiful area, nice wildflowers!

Southern Approach
Took southern route up into the bowl and worked our way back north before finally finding a trail. This trail seriously disappears more than it appears. About 15 minutes of hail on the way to the summit which stopped abruptly 10 meters from the top :) Beautiful views all around and worth the trouble, but the lack of real trails around treeline made this very difficult. I think going up the trail at the right of the parking area might be easier, then moving along the Continental Divide Trail instead.

Climbed this 6 years ago from the Little Blanco Trailhead outside Pagosa Springs. Round trip was about 22 miles. I remember it was the longest hike I'd ever done at that point.

Treasure Creek ApproachWet conditions but the beautiful waterfalls along Treasure Creek made the whole climb worthwhile!
