Surb Gregor Church in Harichavank, VII-XIX centuries

The original church of the Harich Monastery, consecrated in the name of St Grigory the Illuminator, was erected in VII century AD, with numerous structures added around the original cross-shaped church in the following century. In XIX century, when this monastic complex served as the residence of the Katholikos of Armenians, they rebuilt the dome topping the structure. What makes this image special to me is the carved texts over the discrepantly-colored blocks of volcanic tuff. This is so vintage Armenian! 1982
