For some reason I had it in my head that the high point was after the falls...so I hiked down to the falls, and then back to the high point! Really enjoyed the drive and the trail.
It was a cold and windy morning. I first visited the Lookout Tower. As I climbed the tower I noticed that the metal frame seemed to sway a little because of the wind and then I also found slush on the wet wooden steps (not a good combination, for a spiral staircase). No good views from the tower because of the dense morning fog.
I then trekked up to the State Highpoint for a photo-op. While returning to the car, I met a couple of highpointers from Rhode Island; they were shocked to see another person there so early. We exchanged information regarding our highpoint experiences. Very enjoyable.
