| My wife lived in St Louis at the time and she had never been to Missouri's highpoint and neither had I. Even though there isn't much to walking to the summit, it is a beautiful place and there is always excitement about reaching the high point of a state. We saw pileated woodpeckers while on the summit. | ||

| wildfam | Hike The Falls Too ![]() Date Climbed: Jun 20, 2008 | |
| Brought the whole family to the top; quick, short walk on a sidewalk. Then hiked to Mina Sauk - nice hike, nice views, very enjoyable. We had a good view of "where the falls would be" if there was actually any water in them. HP#12 | ||

| Hiked the HP and the falls loop trail. Nice to be out of the car. Last of 3 HP's of the trip. Headed from here to the Donut Drive-In in St. Louis. If you love donuts, you have to go there! Stop at Ted Drewe's Frozen Custard too--just down the street. You won't regret it! Good stuff! | ||

| Touched the nice stone highpoint marker, then ran/jogged the Mina Sauk Falls trail. I was kind of disappointed with the falls, I thought they would be bigger. | ||

| highlandvillager | Long, cold, windy, wet day ![]() Date Climbed: Dec 2, 2007 | |
| Driving from Tulsa, I arrived with just over an hour of daylight left. Clouds and rain obscured any view from the overlook. After a few minutes at the highpoint, I decided I could run to Mina Sauk Falls and back before dark. Wet, slick rocks slowed progress at some points, but the effort paid off as the falls were the best part of the trip. I had just enough time to climb the observation tower before dark, but the weather again obscured any view. #3 | ||

| We braved 45-degree weather in a winter ascent. Because temps had been below freezing for several weeks, the trail to Mina Sauk Falls was a bit muddy as the ground thawed. | ||

| Paved path to the top. Took my 11-year old cousin and we both agreed the best was the Mina Sauk Trail accessible from this paved path--a beautiful gem of a hike for Missouri. | ||

| Redwic | Nice!!! ![]() Date Climbed: Dec 28, 2007 | |
| It was a cold and windy morning. I first visited the Lookout Tower. As I climbed the tower I noticed that the metal frame seemed to sway a little because of the wind and then I also found slush on the wet wooden steps (not a good combination, for a spiral staircase). No good views from the tower because of the dense morning fog. I then trekked up to the State Highpoint for a photo-op. While returning to the car, I met a couple of highpointers from Rhode Island; they were shocked to see another person there so early. We exchanged information regarding our highpoint experiences. Very enjoyable. | ||

| We enjoyed the nice stroll in the woods and would have loved to spend more time exploring, but alas the rental car had to be turned in shortly. | ||

| #1 on my list. If you're traveling to check this one off of yours, add a little credibility to the trip and take the Mina Sauk Falls trail, it's well worth it! | ||

| Yes, my 16 year old daughter and 9 year old son did the 'mountain top' this day. But they also did the Taum Sauk Falls, a much stiffer test. There was water running. | ||

| After an incredibly windy night of camping, the family took the short walk to the "summit." After that, we spent the rest of the day at nearby Elephant Rocks State Park which was way more fun and interesting than Taum Sauk. | ||

| Racing an oncoming storm. Pretty much jogged, touched the tops, photos, got my but out of there and back to the highways - then the snow hit and hard. Saw lots of accidents on the interstate so I got off and stayed in a no-name hotel. More stress than it was worth! | ||
