Temple Mountain Petroglyphs

Temple Mountain Petroglyphs

Petroglyphs near Temple Mountain, San Rafael Swell, Utah. To find these from I70, go south on UT24 for about 25 miles until the Goblin Valley turn-off. Go about four miles to the Temple Mountain Junction. Go straight (west) for 0.9 mile. The petroglyphs are on the north side of the road near an obvious campsite. Unfortunately, these petroglyphs were vandalized by graffiti and bullet holes (I framed this photo to remove most vandalism). I just don't fundamentally understand people who would find something like this and then shoot at it--it's disgusting beyond words. Like John Prine said, "Some humans ain't human." April 2009.

Re: I agree 100%...

Yes, selfishness, blindness, and paranoia as well...this need to erase other people's culture in order to be omnipotent...why for instance do we still only have such a fragmentary knowledge of the Mesoamerican cultures?
