The confluence of the Gorner and Grenz Glaciers

The confluence of the Gorner and Grenz Glaciers

At first glance it seems like just one glacier coming down the center. If you take a closer look, you'll see a bit more glacier on the left side of the black band of rubble near the bottom. Well, that rubble is just heaps of amller and bigger rocks on top of the glacier, taken down from much higher, and come to rest where the Gorner Glacier, coming from the left, and the Grenz Glacier, coming down in the middle, join forces. After the two have merged, it's called the Gorner Glacier. While the Grenz Glacier looks much more dramatic, the upper part of the Gorner Glacier (further left, outside this photo) is actually a little bit bigger. 4 July 2013.
