The direction is getting clearer

I'm following the Grains Gill directly up to Allen Crags, and by now I'm above the point where the Allen Gill join the small stream. From a distance, I had been looking at the crags above. I had read that following the stream would lead me up there, possibly with a bit of British Grade I/II scrambling. My map shows that the stream splits up higher on the slopes, but in reality, there are even more side streams and gullies. One such split is coming up. I'll take the one going slightly to the right: the gully going slightly to the left looks dry, and is less pronounced. When in doubt, my plan is to follow the largest branch up. 24 May 2012.
