The East Arrete of Mt. Lyell on Sept. 1st 2003. The deceiving part of this picture is that the blocks on this ridge look like they are much smaller than reality. Reality is better shown in
this picture . The holds available on this ridge were not as great as I anticipated and the exposure to the
bergshrung was quite unnerving. We began to make some moves that were felt more like upper class 3 or lower 4 and that's when we knew it was time to try another route. The September snow level proved to be tricky as we had heard. Compare snow levels of
