The East Peak rises high...

The East Peak rises high above Anderson Glacier to the right of the Flypaper Pass - the snow tongue on the left which almost reaches the horizon. From here you descend Eel Glacier before heading back up. Quintessential Olympia!!

Re: Anderson Glacier

Haven't been on the page for awhile so sorry about the delay getting back to you. The shot was taken last year, so it isn't accurate as of this season, but I think from the couple of times that I have been here in early August, the snowfinger is usually about the same, kind of petering out at the top. The bigger question is always whether that snowbridge is still ther to get you onto the Eel Glacier;-]

Thanks for the compliment re the shot. Hope you are having a great summer out there in the hills!

Re: Anderson Glacier

The Olympics are truly special. Especially when you really get back into them like you have to to get to anderson. I have always wanted to do the Bailey Traverse but now with a dog, I can't take here on trails in the Park - probably the same with N Cascades too?

Have to say that the Picketts are a pretty wicked group to have in the backyard and then there are the icefields of Challenger. Ours in Oregon are pretty tame in comparison, though I just spent a great three days wandering in the Eagle Cap Wilderness of the Wallowas of ne OR. Some great mountains - a bit of the Rockies misplaced into OR.

Another good weekend on tap!
