Nice oneTom, glad to see your pics of Beachie and Battle Ax. Dennis and I just did a bunch of stuff in Ory-gone, what a great state.
Dennis has 68 of Oregon's 73 prominence peaks, and I now have 31. There's a bunch in your area. Two weekends ago we were chased off of Pueblo Peak due to huge lightning storms but here's a list of what we did get done over the past two weekends. All are Oregon Prominence Peaks:
Warner Peak (just me, Dennis had this already)
Beatys Butte (60 miles of dirt road)
Sheepshead HP (4 WD only)
Blue Mtn (nasty drive up)
Snow Mtn (neat drive up)
Lookout Pk (10 miles snow fest near Prairie City)
Ironside Pk (Dennis only as I ate some bad food)
Pedro Peak (we got snowed on during the summit ascent)
Maybe we can link up for some of the prominence stuff sometime.

Re: Nice oneThanks Dean,
I'm ready for some decent weather....I'm a bit of a fair weather hiker. Nice work on the prominence peaks, I have 21 of those, but am starting to pay more attention to those. Ready to start the summer season any day now.....making my wish list. Thinking about Borah the weekend of July 22, what do ya think? Keep me in the loop for Baker and Glacier as well. We will hook up this year.

Re: Nice oneThe 22nd might work. I'll find out from the wife if that weekend is gone or not. Baker and Glacier are still up in the air but I'd love to get at least one of those in. I'm enjoying the prominence peaks, since county highpoints are so far away now, except for Idaho and Idaho is very weather dependent.
I put up a page for Beatys Butte, not all that far from Warner Peak but one of the prominence peaks Dennis and I did. If you ever do Warner, check out doing Drake, Crane and Beatys since they are all in the same area.

I'm glad...to see others come up here. Did you happen to scramble over to the Eastern summit? If not, make sure to add it to your "to do" list.

Re: I'm glad...Bull of the Woods is a great area. We didn't do the scramble route, but looks like a lot of fun. Didn't really plan on doing Beachie, but when we got to the saddle we just kept on going. As far as the "to do" list, I kind of swore I wouldn't return to the area on that road ;-)

Re: I'm glad...Dude!...don't give up so soon...There's several ways into this area, you just happened to pick the most bumpy. Give it another try from the French Creek Ridge trailhead via road #2227
