I visited this area a few years ago. As your description indicates, it's a delightful collection of rock spires and assorted formations which offer everything from sporty bouldering on up to more technical rockcraft. Fairly easy access from the freeway as well.
I have hiked and climbed the Spires for 15 years. The Pine Beetle has taken its toll in the past two. There is better than 60% in some areas. Doesn't detract much from the climbs or the overall hike, but it is a significant change in the appearance of one of my favorite areas.
