The Knifeblade

The Knifeblade

Dao Gou means "Knife Valley" in Chinese. Name comes from the sunlit wall in the middle of the photo. Photo taken near the pass between Bipeng and Changping Valleys. July 2007.

Very impressive!

Thanks for sharing a nice photo, Bob!
For the means of Dao Gou, I am not sure.
Because the Chinese character what put to Dao is not "Knife", but is "Reach".
The Chinese pronunciation of both is same.
When it is comfirmed, I inform you.

Re: Very impressive!

Thanks Kenzo,

I've never seen the name written on a map. I was told it meant knife, but I will check on that and make the correction if necessary. BTW: I'll be leading a group into Bipeng Valley mid-Jan 2008 for about one month if you care to join us. Bob

Re: Very impressive!

Thanks for your reply and information, Bob!
I am not sure for a schedule in mid January yet. When you come to Rilong Town, please ask to the Sun and Moon Cottage TEL 0837-2791389. They inform you where I am (in the mountain, Danba, Chengdu or another place).
Good luck for your trip!
