The largest rock face in the Eastern Alps

The Watzmann East face (1800 vertical meters of limestone rock from base to top), seen in summer from St. Bartholomä.

Very impressive face!

Reminds me a little of some of the Canadian Rockies faces north of Banff.

And the green forest-covered slopes on the left are a great contrast.

Beautiful shot as always Eric!

Re: Very impressive face!

Thanks Kathy - this place will never cease to be one of my absolute favorites...I visit the Königssee area year after year, and am always enchanted anew...
Your comparison with the Canadian Rockies is absolutely appropriate - I myself felt many times in various places in the Berchtesgaden National Park as if I'm somewhere in Canada...
All the best,
Eric
