On our way down traversing the main ridge and taking an unmarked ridge into wild and inviolated terrain. Ended up moving directly through low level pine trees. Slower than quicksands. :D

be out of marked trails. But trudging through dwarf pine bushes is every hiker's nightmare...

Yes, completely agree. We had no choice but to keep moving as the night was closing in, and in the end we just ended up with our headlamps on, checking the compass and breaking new ground. :D Looking back it was quite an adventure, that night.
