The remains of a glacier

This is the Mutmalkamm, south-east of Martin Busch Hütte. The remains of the Mutmalferner are painfully obvious. On the right is the Mutmalspitze (3528m). The summit itself is not quite visible, it's right behind there. 2 September 2007.

Yes...

...particularly the Ötztal Alps present one with painfully obvious examples...

Yes, unfortunately. It's still a great place, but I can only imagine how exhilarating it must have been to climb here a few decades ago, when the glaciers reached deep into the valleys and all the great north faces could still be climbed ...
