The Sandy Glacier headwall...

The Sandy Glacier headwall forms the familiar western face
of Mount Hood as seen from Portland, 50 miles to the west.
This view from near Lolo Pass shows the mountain in early
fall, with the mountain emerging from clouds after the first
major snowfall.
