The Western Chutes

If on the steep west side of the divide avoid these steep chutes that are typical of all the drainages. They are very steep, rocky, slippery and tangled in brush. They sound nasty, but there really are quite dangerous. If you hear water, move away from it and stay on the straight slopes.
