The Window on Devils Tower, Wyoming.

This Photo Shows Royal Robbins on the First Ascent of the Ultra-Classic WINDOW Route on the East Face of Devils Tower, Wyoming. This was the First Route Rated "A4".

Established on the Devils Tower; August 20, 1964. It resisted a repeat(though many,many folks tried) for 14 Years !! Then, on July 4th, 1978 an "All-Star Team" (shaking in their boots) of Terry Rypkema, Steve Gardiner, Chris Ballinger and Frank Sanders Rock Climber, found their way up the crack, over the roofs, through the rubble and onto the Devils Tower Top. Although numerous, harder Aid Routes have been established on Devil tower, in subsequest years, THE WINDOW route remains a True Testpiece, and is infrequently repeated. This is probably due to the serious nature of a fall out of the roofs !! Devils Tower, Wyoming
