This view south from the summit of The Lakes Lookout shows Crawfish Meadow and the double moraine-like feature with a pond to the right. Crawfish Lake is further out to the right. Given the size, its doubtful the crescent shaped arc is a moraine, but it superficially appears like one. Note the small lake between the meadow and the raised arc. The high point in the distance is Mt. Ireland. August 2005

Crawfish Meadow

The caption refers to a double moraine at bottom end of Crawfish Meadow. I doubt that the features are moraines. I've seen all the moraines in the Elkhorns; not one is anywhere close to this size. And a glacier on the south side of these peaks would not have been as big as those coming off the north sides, all of which have rather small moraines. I'm not a geologist, but this is just my amateur opinion.

Re: Crawfish Meadow

Hmmm, you make a good point. I assumed it was a morain based upon its shape. It does seem rather large for the basin it crosses. Its an odd formation whatever it is. I'll edit the caption.
