This was very famous around the world at that time, and still keep being impressive. Guagua Pichincha as an active vulcano exploted with this atomic-bomb cloud with ashes on october 7, 1999. Everyone in Quito who saw this was impacted about the huge cloud above us. Another interesting point, the summit had some snow, that in fact some years (20+) ago it was usual, but now its strange that the mountain has permanent snow. The picture is not mine, I took it from a poster but it does not have any author or photographer sign. Many picts like this were selling in Quito streets some next days after the explotion happend.
