Thompson Canyon route view
View along the trail through Thompson Canyon during an ascent of Big Hatchet Peak (elev. 8,356 ft.) in New Mexico's Boot Heel. With a prominence of 3,706 feet, Big Hatchet ranks 8th on New Mexico's prominence list. Be careful to avoid the numerous agave plants of various sizes that grow along the trail, but don't forget about the small ones directly on the trail! Photo taken 2/23/08.
