Threatened Spalding's Catchfly

This plant isn't much to look at, but it is Federally listed as Threatened. Its totally disgusting and gooey to the touch, which gives its part of its name. Spalding who was a missionary near Lapwai, Idaho provides the other part. A few plants were found on the lower slopes of Wild Horse on this hike. June 2009
