Tibetan Snowcock, Nepal

The Tibetan Snowcock is part of the pheasant family and lives in the western Himalayas in mountainous areas at altitudes of over 5200 M, 17,000'. This picture was taken in the Khumbu Valley near Gorak Shep at 5140 M, 16,863' on May 13, 2008. A close relative called the Himalayan Snowcock was introduced to the Ruby Mountains in Nevada where a population still lives today.
