Tochal ski resort

Tochal ski resort

Tochal ski resort. Although they closed the resort this week, I believe it was still skiable for another week. This year because of unusually low snowfall the resort was closed 5 weeks earlier than the normal date.(May 16, 2008)

Re: Identical

That is interesting.
When I was in Iran they were talking about 2008 as the worst year in the past 40 years as far as the snowfall was concerned.

Re: Identical

While in the French Alps there was so much snow that the season began six weeks earlier!

Re: Identical

The funny thing is that the winter in Iran was one of the colder ones on the record.

I do not live in Iran but from what I hear, Autumn was quite dry. The first half of the winter was extremely cold and very snowy. For 3 weeks, Tehran was burried under snow. It even snowed in the depths of the deserts but it just suddenly dried up and the temperature rose quite unusually causing massive avalanches and quick snow melt. Very strange!!!!

Here in Wisconsin (in the United States) we had a very cold and snowy winter. For 3 months I had to shovel our driveway every few days.

Re: Identical

I remember the season was so good in Europe that there were several ski competitions in Austria and Switzerland in November.

However, in Iran Although the season for Tochal began in late November, the rest of the resorts started the season in late December. I heard except Tochal and upper section of Dizin, the rest of the resorts had only 4-5 weeks of good snow conditions.
