Thank you Rachel. Actually, I hope to get back down there to hike around and see all the things I missed seeing after my climbing accident on Torre Sur - it's a great place to explore!!! I highly recommend the area - the Chileans are the friendliest people anywhere!!
Thank you for your vote! There is a trail that goes around the Towers that would make a spectacular backpacking trip - that alone is worth a visit !!! And the people are among the nicest anywhere too!!!
Thanks. I highly recommend a visit to this part of Southern Chile - there are so many things to see besides Torres del Paine - it's a wonderful place with wonderful people!!
Pretty sobering account of the rock hitting you on the portaledge. Amazing to see you all up on Williamson, Dade et al. after this adventure. Extremely cool mountains-I guess along with Cerro Torre mountains, the peaks of Baffin, Greenland and the Karakoram, it does not get better than this.
Sobering is the word. If that rock had hit 4 feet further east, it would have most likely killed me! So things could have been worse. None the less, despite the broken leg, this was one of the best adventures I ever had - the Chileans are wonderful!! Go explore there some day - you won't regret it.
Great page on a trully inspiring summit. It's hard to believe that these pillars are for real!
You might note under Red Tape that getting into Chile requires a $45 'reciprocity fee' for folks from the USA. It came as a big surprise to me my first time down there.

Untitled CommentGreat work. I don't expect to climb any of the Torres in my whole life, but it would surely be unforgettable to see them on the spot.
