Thankfully you and I have some real nice mountains close to our cities! I only wish those here were high as those above Tehran. I would go crazy if I had to live in some boring plain. I don't know when the mines were cleared but it is again a popular summit for hiking and climbing. The scrambling is spectacular. There are signs on the drive in that warn of mines, but no issues following the marked route to the summit. Enjoy!
