"As an adolescent I aspired to lasting fame, I craved factual certainty, and I thirsted for a meaningful vision of human life - so I became a scientist. This is like becoming an archbishop so you can meet girls."

close to homeSeen this thing from the bouldering area a few times figured it was time to climb it. Fun and close to home.
I was surprised by all the people being it was in the upper 20's.

a nice add-onTacked this onto the end of a climb of 7680. Actually my second climb of this little peak. Strangely deserted on a beautiful weekend day.

With My SonHiked up with my three-year-old son. He was determined to climb this "mountain." We failed at our first attempt a few months earlier after he "bonked" his knee and wanted to go down.

Happy Fourth of July!I summitted U Mound this afternoon. It was an interesting little hike. I saw plenty of cacti, wildflowers, and birds. At the summit, I stumbled onto some red ant mating ritual and was immediately swarmed. Once a got a few feet down, I was able to enjoy the views without distractions.

Before WorkThis is a pretty fun little hike that is good if you are short on time. I hiked this one day before I had to go into work.

Nice urban scrambleAfter summitting Point 7420, I deposited the husband and the dogs in the truck and returned to the trail to summit U Mound. This is a fun urban scramble. The approach trail is in excellent shape and nicely switch-backed, though there must be hundreds of pounds of dog crap on the trail - shame. This is a cool, short hike with plenty of parking. I'd recommend it to folks in Albuquerque on business trips or visiting family, etc.

Yet again...I've climbed this many times now but my favorite it coming up here to watch the sun set over the city and Mt Taylor. A few too many clouds tonight for a good sunset but still a nice hike with the dog.
