Upper Slate Lake

Upper Slate Lake

This is little upper Slate Lake. The larger lower Slate Lake sits out of view in the bowl below the shelf. The trailhead for the Slate Lakes area is behind the end of the ridge that comes in from the right. This ridge connects to the east side of Umbrella Butte. This small lake is remote and hard to get into. The two high points on the horizon are North Pole and Buffalo Hump, the two highest points in the Gospel Hump Wilderness. This view is from the summit of unnamed Peak 7,953. July 2007
