Upper Walton Lake

Upper Walton Lake

This is the upper Walton Lake from the ridge to the west. This lake is 65 feet deep, which is quite deep for a mountain lake. The low, forested country separates the Grave Peak mass from the high body of the main Bitterroots on the Montana border in the distance. July 2009

This is actually middle Walton Lake. Upper Walton Lake is smaller and up and to the right of this lake. I visited them all on 7-21-10 and there is no trail to the upper Lake.

Re: montanahome

Yes, I'm aware of the third lake, but most people I know and apparently the maps I use consider the two larger, more approximate lakes as Walton Lakes. The third lake is a bit separated geographically. I suppose the case can be made either way.
