Excuse me..but what in the world does that have to do with climbing? (Unless you did climb up the outside of it). I never liked that monument anyway, it celebrates victories over Denmark, Austria, and France (1864, 1866, 1871) that might be said to have lead up to WWI and WWII.

Your right, it doesnt have much to do with climbing. Granted you can climb the inside of it... ;-p But anyways, i was thinking of using it as my profile image, but I decided not to.
Also, while it does symbolize victories over other countries, ( which country doesnt have one of these?) it is also a symbol of the formation of modern day Germany. So its not that simple. But I think its a pretty picture too.

I'd argue that...more than anything, it is just a symbol of Prussian pride. As stated, which countries in Europe don't have monuments signifying their own greatness & past military victories?
