Normally I don't post pictures of myself on summits, but more than a year passed between the time I first attempted to reach the summit of The Shard (30aug06) and the day this picture was taken, so I made an exception this time. My first attempt was turned back because of inclement weather. With little reliable beta, I expected the route (South Ridge)to be strenuous and the climbing to exceed Class 4. I made the extra effort to be physically and mentally prepared before attempting the route. It turned out the route is mostly Class 2 with only a little easy Class 3 near the summit. Behind me is the higher east summit of The Shard. It is reached by a different route, the South Slope. Taken 6sep07.
